ZEUS
RIP
Zeus was my introduction to the Rottweiler breed. Zeus was the housepet only and was not bred from. Originally brought as a gift for my husband's birthday by myself, Zeus very quickly became my dog. Very devoted and a born protector, Zeus was happy to lounge around the house all day or be out swimming at the beach.
Bringing Zeus home as a young pup, the size of a bear cub, but as gentle as a lamb, little did I know that I would now not be without this wonderful breed in my life. I brought Zeus from the paper and have learnt a lesson the next rottis in my life are all from registered breeders with the local ANKC.
Zeus was the dog that was always willing to please. Taught a command once and he would go out of his way to please anyone and everyone. Not aware of his size and thinking every person was put on the planet to smother him in love, you would often walk past Zeus who had his stumpy wagging 90 miles an hour and a hopeful look of anticipation on his face :) He loved nothing more than a scratch behind the ear, a belly rub or just to try and curl up on your lap all 60 odd kilos of him.
Zeus was devoted to our four cats and my two children ,Taniesha 4 and Tyler 2. Both children loved to throw the ball and Zeus would fetch until the cows came home, if he was allowed. Due to hip issues we needed to monitor his fetch time and you can see the dissapointment when the ball is put away. Both children loved taking Zeus out for his daily walk and he happily trotted to heel along side them, never pulling or lunging and always aware that there was a child holding the lead not an adult.
Zeus had completed obedience classes and was always the nanny dog in his younger classes. If a pup got to growly or boisterous, Zeus would stand between pups til they calmed down. Still very much the nanny dog, Zeus will try play life saver if they are swimming or squealing too much and always has to be in the middle of a game.
Zeus was stolen at 16 months and three years later we got the joyous call to say he was at the vet waiting for us. Tears of joy the day he was returned and he has slotted back into life as if he never left. Now 6 years old we didn't have him with us for to long but he gave us many joyful memories from this wonderful boy.
May Zeus now Rip at rainbow bridge to we meet again.
